Well, it was certainly an interesting class. At the beginning I was just looking around the class trying to imagine what the others were thinking. I was afraid to open up, nervous, uncertain of what might happen if I opened up and said what I really thought. I imagine the others were having the same doubts and thoughts. There was silence, awkwardness, and confusion about what we were supposed to be doing. Nevertheless we couldn't wait to get things moving. The discussions started out bit by bit. We were stalling for something interesting to say; however somewhere in the middle of the class things got heated even though no one threw chairs or left the room crying. I have hope that is still to happen in the next sessions. Starting with an introduction was a good idea. Come to think about that, we stopped right there. Somehow that was a repetition of the first class my name, my major shallow information about ourselves not really going into significant substance. I wish we are going to get into that later on when we might feel more comfortable with each other. I would love to know a bit more than what their major is.

As this was the first meeting it was hard to get everyone involved into the discussion. Even thought some people expressed their opinions constantly through the "almost" hours meeting there were people that did not get involved at all. Now, that might be for different reasons some people are shy, some don't believe their ideas are as good as others. I believe Kris made a step forward into getting some members involved by asking their opinion, but she stopped at the guy with the baseball hat. Since I am taking about Kris, in my eyes she got the potential for being the group leader. She is outspoken, can get the members attention and was interested in getting people drawn in what was going on.

We did jump from one conversation to the other. Topics had absolutely no connections to one another. We have to work on starting a conversation and finishing it. Also the topic of members' commitment came up. There were two sides of the coin nonetheless we seemed to agree that once we decided to be on the group we would stick to it. That was fine with me. We are getting used to one another and a new member will get in the way of things.

In conclusion, as last week was the first time that we got to know the others views I think we did fine. Once we learn to stick to one thing, and get every one involved in what is going on we might have some "fine" conflicts.

After careful review of the memorandum of your case we would like to inform you

of the merits of your case and let you know that we are hopeful in squashing this

issue before it goes to trial. We have found the areas in which we must express to

enable success in your favor. Unfortunately the Statues of Connecticut states that

it is unlawful for any person to condone another person to use drugs, medicine,

or medical instruments in preventing contraception. Another statute in the state

of Connecticut prohibits any person from assisting, abetting, or counseling

another to commit any offense resulting in punishment in the same degree as

those committing the actual offense. However, not only is this statute ridiculous

and hope to save you from suffering from it but hopefully after this case, the

statute will be changed all together. We are so positive in changing the law

because the Connecticut statutes completely takes away the rights stated by several

amendments of the US Constitution. The US Constitution supports your practice

in the First, Third, Fourth and Fourteenth amendments. With the constitution on

our side we are likely to give a very good argument nipping a trial in the bud

resulting in success for all. Our best bet is to approach using the argument that the

Connecticut Statute is completely unconstitutional by showing the substance of the

First amendment and Fourteenth amendment. The First amendment warrants any

citizen the right to freedom of religion, and expression, and it is unlawful for the

state to interlude with the private working of the mind. While the First

amendment covers you right to speech and expression, the due process cause of

the Fourteenth amendment brings out an even more important right of personal

liberties. This amendment says that the state (Connecticut) has no right to take

away a person's (you) life, liberty, or property (your practice and patients

decisions) without due process of the law. The state of Connecticut clearly is in

violation of this amendment resulting in a very strong argument in your situation

and in changing this ridiculous law. Although the state of Connecticut finds your

practice unlawful the US Constitution above all, and the credentials of executive

director of the league, licensed physician, and Yale Medical School Professor all

ensure that we will end up on top. We are working our best to show your original

intent which was to provide for your community, and in the end all will prevail

with this unconstitutional statute demolished.

Please note that this sample paper on law is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Why would anyone want to live in a "perfect" world? This question always brings up a discussion. Some people think that it would be boring for everything and everyone to be the same. But others would find it safe and comforting to never have to face with competition or difficulties or even every day choices. Also some say how can you have a perfect world when everyone has their own definition of perfect?

Living in a world with no colors, no smells, and no feelings can mean a lot of different things. Imagine you were placed in this kind of atmosphere. Boring? Yes, but it's also safe. Imagine never getting hurt again. No more broken bones, no scratches, no bruises, and no more tears. But this also means no more love, happiness, anger, jealousy, or depression.

In the book the main character, Jonas, is supposed to share his feelings with his "family" (I put the word family in quotation marks for the mere fact that it's not a real family because it consists of no love) but after becoming The Giver he realizes that they really don't know what feelings are (The Giver is the person in the community who is given the responsibility of all of the knowledge and experiences in the world.)

Now imagine you are given the responsibility to have all the knowledge and experience in the world. Sounds great, right? Not really because you wouldn't be able to share the feelings with anyone else. Basically, you would be all alone in the world, so when you needed help or advice no one would be there. And when everything got overwhelming you could not run away from it, you would have to face it.

So now Jonas is faced with the decision to accept the responsibility or not, but little does he know if he didn't he would be killed. That's what happens to everyone when they leave the community. After awhile all of this is too overwhelming and Jonas can no longer handle the pain. So he faces one of the most important decisions in his life, get killed, run away, or live with it. Which would you chose?

After hearing all these points how do you stand on living in a perfect world? We all know it is possible because we have the technology to do it. Pretend right now you have the option to vote for or against a perfect world. How would your ballot read?

Driving while under the influence of alcohol is on the increase and statistics show that alcohol-related traffic deaths last year totaled almost 18,000. My personal research has found that motor vehicle accident deaths are the major cause of death in children under the age of 18. I believe that a large number of these alcohol related deaths of children are factored with a parent or guardian driving while intoxicated. In so many cases, I believe that parents are irresponsible when they do not take their children's innocent lives into consideration when they drink alcohol. An adult can make a personal choice not to ride with someone who has been drinking alcohol, but children don't have that same opportunity when the driver is their parent.

I have made it my goal to teach my two daughters about the consequences of getting into a vehicle with someone who has been drinking alcohol. I see parents all the time at restaurants and at parties or cookouts with their children, drinking alcohol while the kids play before they all get in the car together to go home. I, myself, enjoy having a drink or two on occasion with dinner or at a party, but my respect for my children is important when they are with me, not to mention that I would be setting a bad example. Children who see their parents have a "few" beers and drive will learn that is normal for people to do to get home. When they are killed or injured while riding with someone outside the family who has been drinking, the parents are angry and want to punish the driver.

Simmons

Some parents may argue that they are able to handle the alcohol they drink or that they are not too intoxicated to drive. They will likely preach to their children telling

them not to drink, expecting them to do as they say, not as they do. Boys especially want to be like their fathers, so they might think it is okay while fishing all day or playing baseball to drink a few beers and then drive home. I have absolutely no respect for parents who drink around their children at all, but the ones who expect them to ride with them when they have been drinking are a major disappointment to me. What are these parents teaching their children? Sounds like double standards to me.

I. Problem and the purpose

A. Authorization

`This informative report on the business major I am taking up is submitted to Dr. James Ellzy, Professor, College of Business, Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN. This report has been done by request of Dr. Ellzy to satisfy the requirements of the research paper that was assigned to me.

B. Problem Statement

The purpose of this report is for me to research the outlook of pursuing a job as a financial consultant. Included will be facts concerning the earning potential, educational requirements, job settings, opportunities for advancement, and what role a financial consultant would play in a work atmosphere.

C. Sources of Data

The sources that were used came from the Tennessee State University Main Library, various web sites, and selected readings from a news paper. They were all very useful in helping me to gather information on this topic. The books that I had to choose from offered a lot of insight into the field that I am interested in turning into a career.

D. Preview of the Presentation

In the following pages there will be an analysis of the different aspects of becoming a financial consultant. It will start with an overview of what this major will incorporate, the requirements, and potential for growth in this field of study.

II. What is a financial consultant?

Financial consultants are required to analyze business and operating procedures to devise the most efficient methods of accomplishing work. They gather and organize information about present operating problems and procedures and prepare recommendations for implementing new systems or changes. Most job settings in this field are in metropolitan areas where they spend most of their time in their own offices or clients' offices. Analysts work 14-16 hour days, 6 or 7 day work weeks. Usually those hours are in effect during a deadline period.

A. What Role Do They Play in the Work Environment?

Financial consultants are usually called on when a rapidly growing small company needs a better system of control over inventoried and expenses. They usually come into a situation when someone has recommended them to a client to give actions and provide assessment.

B. Educational Requirements

For this field of business, a Bachelors Degree is required, but it is suggested to obtain a Masters Degree in order to have a better chance of getting a job. They should have a general knowledge of all aspects of business. Such as general management, operations, finance and accounting, and marketing logistics.

C. Special Requirements

There are no special licenses or certificates required to be a financial consultant. But experience is usually desired unless hired directly from school. In this situation you are often required to participate in formal company training programs. In these programs you will learn the instructions on policies and procedures, computer systems and software, management and principals of that company. Most consultants attend conferences to enhance their knowledge about current developments. Another important aspect of being a successful consultant is having people skills. Also they must be quick on their feet, able to handle difficult situations with closure. Being unbiased and analytical, also being a business intellectual, and being willing to discover how things work in the business field are very important. Financial consultants must be discrete because they will be constantly handling confidential materials and information.

III. Potential in the Finance industry

A. Earnings

Salaries and hourly rates for consultants vary. It depending on your level of experience, specialization, education level, and employer. In the early 0's median annual salaries were about 5,400. Middle 50% earned 6/50 and 48,650, 10% earned more than 6,040. Typical benefits for salaried consultants include health and life insurance, retirement plans, vacation with travel expenses covered, sick leave, profit sharing, and bonuses for outstanding work. Ten years ago, it was not unheard of for consultants to make ,000 per day or 50,000 in one year from working only two days a week. Most consultants can demand between $400 and $1000 per day, with fees well over $40 per hour.

B. Opportunities For Advancement

A brand new worker is considered an associate for the first couple of years. Next progression is to senior associate, which is a title that indicates -5 years experience and the ability to supervise others and do more complex and independent work. Next after 5 years and doing well may become an engagement manager with the responsibility to lead a consulting team on a particular client project. Then you can become a senior engagement manager leading several study teams or a very large project team. After 7 years those who excel will be considered as junior partners. Partner ship involves responsibility for marketing the firm and leading client projects. The final promotion is to become senior partner. But most consultants with entrepreneurial ambition will open their own firms.

IV. Conclusion

So, in conclusion there are many tasks and opportunities that come with being a financial consultant. A person interested in pursuing this job must be willing to deal with the disappointments as well as the success that come with this job. Being able to manage your time well will help you succeed in this business. I feel that continuing this major is a smart choice because it will teach me everything I need to know to come out on top and make the most out of my career.

Objective 1 Assess Southlands differential association theory in relation to professional thieves specializing in the robbery of drug stores.

Some social and criminal behavior is learned from interaction with others or associations. Human behavior is influenced and determined by social and environmental factors. Almost everything we are has been learned. Criminal activities are learned in much the same way as law-abiding ones. Variations in belief and conduct are learned rather than genetically inherited. We are socialized and brought up by society and its norms and values. We are molded to a large extent by society. What is common sense and normal behavior to one society may not be relative to another society. What is one persons common sense may be somebody elses nonsense. What is conforms to normal in one society may be regarded as deviant outside of it.

By associating with deviant people criminal behavior, motive and technique are learned. Criminal behavior is not inherited. A crime can not be committed with out being trained or influenced by other members of a criminal crew. A professional thief would be trained by those who are already professionals. The learning would include the technique of how to commit the crime and what the motive is for committing the crime.

The principles of differential association are that society has definitions favorable to following the laws that govern society.. A person becomes delinquent because of an excess of definitions favorable to the violation of law over definitions favorable to following the laws that govern society. Modern societies have many different subcultures, and behavior that conforms to the norms of a particular sub cultural setting may be regarded as deviant outside it. Professional thieves have the same needs as law abiding people but they choose illegal methods over legal methods.

A professional thief specializing in the robbery of a drug store would work within a small personal group or organization. He or she would be learned by other experienced professional thieves within the criminal crew. This learning would include the technique and operation of committing the crime. The motive, drive and the of general need for the criminal behavior for example personal use of the drugs stolen from the robbery of the drug stores.

Violent Television Programs and the Impact they have on Children

The effects of TV are seen in children's values, lifestyles, role models, eating, sleeping, health, family interaction & buying habits. Numerous studies have been made on the impact of television. The type of programs and the amount of time a child watches may have an affect on their aggression level. This research paper will discuss violence in the media; the impact violent shows have on children, some of the top ten violent programs that children watch and how parents can reduce the effects of TV violence on their children.

Does watching violence cause someone to become violent? For decades now children have grown up with violence all around them. They see it on TV, in video games, movies, books, and hear it on the radio. They have been bombarded with very powerful visual and verbal massages demonstrating numerous acts of violence. Seeing these acts has become all too common for kids. Some common types of media violence are; violence with a weapon, violence without a weapon, crashes and explosions and verbal violence. Regardless of what type of violence they see, children and adolescents have always been interested in arousing, and often even violent stories and fairy-tales. With the occurrence of mass media, film and in particular television, the quantity of aggressive content daily consumed by these age groups has dramatically increased. As real violence, especially among the youth at the same time is still growing, it seems reasonable to compare the two, media violence and aggressive behavior. With more recent media developments, video recorders, computer games and the Internet one can see a further increase of extremely violent images. Videos present realistic torture scenes and even real murder, computer games enable the user to actively simulate the mutilation of enemies, and the Internet has become a platform for child pornography, violent cults, and terrorist guidelines. It is crucial to realize though that still the primary causes for aggressive behavior will most probably be found in the family environment, the peer groups, and in particular the social and economic conditions, children are raised in (Groebel & Hinde, 11).

In a study done by National Television Violence, it stated, "there are substantial risks of harmful effects from viewing violence thought the television environment." By the age of 18, the average American will have viewed 00,00 violent acts on TV

Some particular shows are known to bring about violence in adolescents and children and that is WWF Smackdown! It is one TV program that exposes children to obscene, raunchy, and violent content on a weekly basis. Regularly featured characters included a pimp and his Ho Train, a sex addict, and a porn star. Episodes contained women mud wrestling topless, homosexual innuendo, and drug references. Violent content included characters being beaten with chairs, poles, pipes, x4s, sledgehammers, street signs, chains, a piano top, and hockey sticks, getting smashed through tables and windows, getting run down by a limo, rammed by a semi truck, and being set on fire. Foul language included all the standards and audible use of the s-word, and visible, but not audible, uses of f--k and motherf--ker.

Some movies in the media make violence "funny". Many Americans are familiar with the notion of funny violence. Mel Gibsons hit, ‘Payback', is filled with such examples. Gangsters are killed or maimed in an automobile accident that he causes, and his character laughs. Why? Because they werent wearing their seatbelts. Is it a coincidence that one of the Littleton killers peaked underneath a tablecloth in the cafeteria, found a student shivering with fear, shouted "Peekaboo", and shot her dead?

Research has suggested that parents can reduce this effect that media violence has on children. One is watching TV with your child and discussing the programs. It has been shown that parental co-viewing reduces the childs identification with the person committing the violent act, as well as the childs perception that the violence is real. It also reduces the likelihood that the child will act out the violence immediately after seeing it on TV. Another way of monitoring what kids watch is V-chip technology, keeping the television out of the bedroom, and limit media time.

In conclusion, fifty years ago, almost no one had a television set. Now there are more households with TV sets than with indoor plumbing, and the average American home contains - sets, sometimes with sets in each childs bedroom. Children absorb information and often mimic what they see and it is important that we teach them to use media effectively and teach them

My balls proved to be the one of the most serious challenge to face the United States. This ‘Second war of Independence' changed American history. This essay will discuss the causes for this war assessing whether there actually were valid reasons for the United States and Britain going to war or whether the whole 181 war was pointless aggression.

The war of 181 was a very unnecessary war. It broke out just as one of its chief causes (The Orders in Council) was removed and its greatest battle (New Orleans) was fought just after peace was signed. The war was unnecessary from a British point of view but for the Americans it was inescapable. The Royal Navy had kidnapped ,800 American sailors and pressed them into service. On the frontier it was believed that Indian restlessness war stirred up by British agents although really American oppression has to be seen as a big cause of this too.

America's war with Britain seemed inevitable although the Americans did everything they decently could to avoid it, although there seemed to be endless provocation by Britain, for example in 1807 when a British frigate, the leopard opened fire on an American frigate the Chesapeake. There was an obvious anger for what British had done to America and many Americans merely wanted revenge

The radical expansionism and the belief that Canada would join the United States also has to be a major cause for America going to war. Another primary cause of the war was the rise of Tecumseh the Indian chief who was believed to be backed by the British. This caused am urgency for the Americans to expel the British from Canada.

New England had virtually everything in common with British Maritime interests but the further South and West you traveled the leaders you found who wanted a war with Britain as the road to expansion.

The opinions of these Southern and Western states reflected the ideas of Henry Clay, the leader of the War hawks. The war hawks desire for land, Canadian or Indian, fear of a British backed Indian conspiracy, concern over the declining prices of agriculture products and the restrictions of markets abroad have all believed to have been basic cause of the war. Henry Clay assumed a leading role in the war against Britain. He then affected President Madison's decision about the war and more or less pushed Madison from being indifferent to declaring war.
