"Vicious minds, abound with anger and revenge, are incapable of feeling the pleasure of forgiving their enemies."

Philip Dormer Stanhope Chesterfield (164-177)

One of the important themes of Great Expectations was revenge.

For one thing, Pip got revenge on some of the people that treated him poorly. Firstly, Pip got Orlick fired from Miss Havisham's. Orlick always despised Pip and treated him unfairly, so Pip told Mr. Jaggers that Orlick would not be the right person to guard Miss Havisham's house. Likewise, Pip tried to get Trabb's boy fired. As Pip walked like a gentleman down High Street, Trabb's boy mocked him several times causing the townspeople to laugh at Pip. Moreover, Pip had his revenge on Bentley Drummle when he challenged him at the Finches meeting. He accused Drummle of lying about Estella and made him look silly in front of his friends. In addition, Pip got revenge on Herbert by beating him up in the garden at Miss Havisham's. Herbert head butted Pip and challenged him to fight. There were several occasions when Pip took revenge against the people that treated him badly. They were Orlick, Bentley Drummle, Herbert Pocket, and Trabb's boy.

Moreover, Miss Havisham got revenge on as many people as she could. Primarily, she got revenge on Matthew Pocket because she thought he was being scheming like the rest of her family. He told her that Compeyson could not be trusted. She banished him from her house forever. Similarly, she let her family members believe that she was Pip's benefactor. This was vengeful of her because her family members were greedy and scheming. In fact, she also had revenge on her family by only giving very small amounts of money to Camilla, Sarah, and Georgiana. They were very greedy and expected to receive a great share of the fortune. Finally, Miss Havisham sought revenge on the male sex. She had had her heart broken by a young man that said he loved her but then he cancelled the wedding. She used Estella to break the hearts of men. Miss Havisham had a hard life and made up for it by seeking revenge throughout Great Expectations.

Furthermore, Bentley Drummle had revenge against a few people throughout the novel. For one thing, Drummle had revenge on Startop by threatening to throw a glass at him. Startop made a funny joke about Drummle borrowing money that upset him. Secondly, Drummle got revenge on Pip by embarrassing him at the Finches. He not only brought in proof of knowing Estella, but he also brought in a note that said he had spent an evening dancing with her. In like manner, Bentley had revenge against Pip at the Blue Boar. He yelled out to the waiter that he needed his horse as he was having dinner with Estella and wanted to be on time. Once again, Drummle had revenge on Pip by marrying Estella. Drummle knew how angry Pip would be when he married Estella. Drummle got revenge against Startop and against Pip several times during the book.

Finally, Magwitch had a difficult life and he sought revenge. He was blamed by Compeyson for both of their crimes and was imprisoned for twice as long. Compeyson was the leader of their crimes and Magwitch beat him up in the prison ship. In the same way, Compeyson later escaped from the prison ship as he feared Magwitch. Magwitch escaped after him, found him, then beat him up and attempted to drag him back to the hulks. Furthermore, Magwitch fought Compeyson in the water and drowned him. Compeyson lead police to him and tried to attack him when they met in the boats. Lastly, Magwitch had his revenge on society by making Pip a gentleman. The main reason that Magwitch received twice as much time was that Compeyson was a gentleman and he was not. Magwitch was treated unfair by many people and he got as much revenge as he could.

The major characters, Magwitch, Pip, Miss Havisham, and Bentley Drummle, felt that they had been treated unjustly and wanted to get even. All of these incidents combined to create suspense and demonstrate the major theme of revenge in the novel Great Expectations.

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. Our staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in Goals, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your Goals paper at affordable prices!

My goals are quite a big leap for me. My first goal is to learn. I want to learn and to expand my knowledge. I will strive to learn all I can in anything I can. And I feel that my choice of doing this online was a very good one. I am actually learning more that I have at any other training course. I feel motivated and confident about myself. I think I would feel out of place in a regular classroom, especially with younger people in it. And if I didn't feel comfortable I would not learn. I have already learned a lot in this course. I have found new and different ways of learning. The dynamics of learning are vast and endless. I have started this long journey to higher learning. And coupled with the experience I have in hands on work that I do now in the IT field. I feel very confident I will succeed in this goal.

My second goal is to be more responsible and motivated. I already have made steps toward this goal. I have some great guides to lead me to victory in this, like "Coveys Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" and time management skills. I am being responsible by turning my work in on time and complete. Also I am doing more around the house not watching television and playing games all the time. Being responsible make you feel good about yourself and give you a feeling of success. Responsibility requires a lot of self-discipline and motivation. Mastering these two traits I will obtain my goal.

My third goal is to be successful. It will take the first two goals to reach this goal. It takes knowledge, responsibility, and motivation to do this. I am a hard worker and tired of working hard. Its time to work smart, and use the intelligence god gave me. The UOP experience has only helped to strengthen my motivation to succeed. With the little I have learned the past two week it has opened my eyes even more to bigger and better possibilities that I didn't think was possible me. I already have 15 years experience in upper management under my belt to augment my new skills. Old skills merged with new skills give me a better chance for success. Nothing will ever take the place of either learning of real life experience. But put them together and you have a winning combination.

My first two goals are simple and are two basic must for a person to be successful. And education is the base for witch all this will stand. Ignorance is the enemy from where hate and deceit comes from. It kills all desire to live up to your potential. I do not want that, I will set the example for my son to follow. And my education will not stop when I graduate. I will continue to take classes to stay on top. I will earn my MCSE, NET+, and CNA. I will use my school experience to help obtain my goal and to keep evaluating them. I hope to keep my education ongoing and get my MSIT. I guess I am in this for the long haul.

The third goal is a little more complex than the first two. Isn't it ironic how you need the first two to get to the third. You kind of have to be an Alchemist to put it all together. Not enough of this, or too much of that and bam it blows up in your face. And throw in a touch of luck to boot. I have had my share of booms in my life, always trying to take the short cuts. Yep and I always came up short. So I decided to cut the short out of it and it seems to be working. Even now as I right this page I see a new goal forming, prosperity. And isn't that the American dream? So I guess when one goal gets meet another will take its place or coincide with it. I have never been a goal setter and my life shows it. To be a winner you got to do what the winners do. And this feels like I'm winning for the first time in my life. And now I got a big taste of it I want more and more. I think I have created a monster, but who says all monsters are bad.

As a young man he attended Harvard, but soon dropped out to found his now multi billion dollar company, Microsoft in 175. Bill Gates took components from two other inventors and combined them to form the first Personal Computer. John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz had designed a programming language called BASIC; Gates used this on the Altair system. This was Microsoft's and Bill Gates' first product, which sparked the beginning of Microsoft's multi billion-dollar empire. Bill Gates soon formed a beneficial alliance with the already powerful and established computer engineering company IBM (International Business Machines). IBM had designed a Personal Computer and needed software for its Operating System. In another shrewd business move, Bill Gates bought Q-DOS from The Seattle Computer Products company and had his company modify it to run as the IBM Personal Computer's Operating System. The Personal Computer by IBM was finally released in August 181 and quickly beat out the competition to move to the top. Soon Microsoft, led by Bill Gates, made Windows. Which was a more user-friendly operating system. This Operating System was created to compete with Macintosh's Operating System. This new Operating System put Microsoft at the top and let Bill Gates pocket a pretty penny. With his company established and himself with a good nest egg, he continues to make shrewd business deals to this day.

Bill Gates' success in business came with his understanding of what people want in a company. He's loyal to those he employs, and even helped make many Microsoft employees millionaires. People like a company that is not afraid to pour its money into research. Microsoft does just that by spending billions on technology research. When Gates was just getting popular he appeared on many T.V. shows and other media with a likeable appearance that bought the peoples hearts and made them want to support Microsoft. He was ingenious, using a combination of Xerox and IBM company products to get more sales from their buyers also. After a while Microsoft became a monster of a company, but it didn't frighten the people away. Gates had built up Microsoft as humanities savior. When Microsoft released Windows 5 the world quickly embraced it and the cyber world began, changing our world to be a better more interconnected place.

Bill Gates' cunning business deals as Microsoft CEO, has put Microsoft at the top of a revolutionized computer age. BASIC sent the world to new highs by allowing someone to operate a computer in their own home. DOS came around and the world again advanced to a whole new level of computer modernization. People began to see computers as a needed tool, and as something that would grow quickly. Even all of the skeptics began to give in to the urge to use a Personal Computer. When Bill Gates led Microsoft into coming out with Windows, it opened a door to a quick paced multi-billion dollar computerized world, where the sky is the limit. Today our entire life and world are based on computers. They pretty much rule our world. They have revolutionized modern thinking and individual education. Bill Gates made all this possible, we can now communicate freely to anyone around the world instantaneously. The computer world is still growing exponentially and will continue to grow because of Bill Gates and his Personal Computer. Bill Gates and Microsoft provided infinite information in anyone's home through the invention of the Personal Computer.

Chapter 1

I use different typ

es of communication all day. I work at an espresso bar and I am cashier and I serve the customers. All day I am thinking of the types of conversations I am holding and why I am having them. Most of the time it is use of instrumental goals. People come because they want product. Often times though, we have friendly conversations as I make one's drink. I see the difference it can make when I ask people how their day is going. Many people really enjoy this and just casually chatting.

One thing I have noticed about myself is that I am a huge self monitor, maybe too much. I am constantly thinking very deeply about what I say before I even say it. I over analyze what I say to people, or how I behave with them. I guess I'm a bit self-conscious.

I think I'm a really hard person to get to really know. I feel only my closest friends and family really know who I am. I also think I can get my point across much better through letters, nonverbally. That's why I like to talk to people about serious topics over the internet through instant messaging. I guess it's just a lot easier sometimes to say bold things when the when you're not facing the receiver of the message. There are many times I've asked people if we could get online and talk if we were on the phone before. For the first few months when I was with my boyfriend I would have us do this if I had an issue to talk about. I think I've gotten over that with him. I don't always necessarily think that is the best way to handle things. It's almost like you're somewhat hiding. The point may not get across exactly how you wanted, or the receiver may not even take it as seriously as they would if you were face to face.

I think the breakthrough of the internet is a marvelous invention though for shy people. They're somewhat anonymous. If they goof up, it won't be as big of a deal. It's also easier to find people who share the same interests. A lot of people consider meeting people online risky or "nerdy". I can see their point. But I think there are a lot of people who like the anonymity of it all.

My boyfriend and I constantly use metacommunication. I value our romance very highly because we do this. I think it's really important. If there is ever an issue concerning our communication, we bring it up and get to the bottom of it immediately. I have been in many other relationships where we just don't talk about it. So it would build up and cause us to behave in negative ways and cause explosive fights and hurt feelings. It feels very good now to have someone who I am so comfortable with that I can bring anything up, that may be a threat to our relationship. I believe if relationships don't have this they will definitely suffer. It's harder sometimes for me, with people I hardly know. For example, co-workers. I've had many problems before with people I've worked with. But I never really had the nerve to bring up what about our professional relationship would irk me. So to get it out, I would speak poorly of these people to other co-workers, which is never a good thing. That of course always creates drama. But it's always because I'm too meek to say it to their face.

I also wanted to say that I think because my boyfriend and I have such good communication, I believe we have a very neutralized symmetry. We have discussed in the past, before this class and before I even knew there was a term for this type of relationship, who has more power. We both agreed that it seemed pretty balanced. I thought this was a great sign. In my opinion, these seem like they make the healthiest type of relationship.

In a good story, the author creates gaps for the reader to fill in, which makes the reader become sympathetic towards some characters, and unsympathetic towards others. A great example of this is the short story ‘The Good Corn.'

Each reader fills in the blanks to a story differently, and it is no different in this story.

Some readers might feel sympathetic towards Joe Mortimer, who gets lured in by Elsie, a young girl whom he cheats on his wife with. They also might feel sympathetic for him because his wife cant have babies. Others might feel completely unsympathetic with him for cheating on his wife.

Likewise, most will be sympathetic towards Mrs Mortimer, since she can't have babies, and the author giving her the name of ‘Mrs Mortimer', making it seem like she belongs to Joe. However, some might feel unsympathetic towards her, as she might seem greedy, as she thinks that it is a duty for a woman to have children. I, personally, felt sympathetic towards her, because I filled in the gaps and assumed that she had no idea of the affair of his father and Elsie.

For Elsie, the author really makes the reader feel unsympathetic towards her, as she lures Joe Mortimer away from Mrs Mortimer. However, there is always someone who will feel the opposite way. They might feel sympathetic to her, since the author portrays her as an outcast, being short and dark skinned. They also might like her portrayal as an ‘exotic' person. The reader may feel one way about a character at the introduction of the character, but it can always change as the story progresses. I felt unsympathetic towards her, because I filled in the gaps and felt she seemed quite suspicious from her introduction.

When Elsie is introduced, she seems really innocent. "The girl who answered their advertisement for help was short and dark, with rather sleepy brown eyes, a thick bright complexion, and rosy knuckled hands. She called at the house wit her mother, who did most of the talking while she was there' Her being short and dark makes her seem exotic, as I said earlier, and the sleepy eyes make her seem less cunning. Rosy hands make her seem younger and innocent, while her calling at the house with the mother, who did most of the talking, makes her seem quite shy and again, innocent. Mrs Mortimer hired her because Elsie made her feel more wanted and needed around the house. But that turned out to be completely opposite to what happened.

Also, Joe Mortimer's view in the eyes of the reader could really change. In the start of the story, the reader is invited to feel sympathetic towards him, being middle-aged, living in a small house, doing hard labor, and looking at the children in the trains passing the farm, wishing that he could have children of his own with his wife. But with Joe cheating on his wife, the author creates a situation where the reader's feelings about him are likely to change, to feel unsympathetic towards him and thinking of him as a greedy, selfish old man.

After the pregnancy is revealed, we are positioned to possibly change feelings towards the characters again, seeing as Elsie doesn't want the baby, and Mr and Mrs Mortimer really want a child. The reader may not be unsympathetic towards anyone, since it seems that everything is resolved and the Mortimers have a baby. Others may feel unsympathetic towards everyone; towards the Mortimers for even considering taking the child, and towards Elsie for considering giving it away.

The author may have ways to try to persuade the reader to feel a particular way about the characters, but ultimately it is up to the reader to fill in the gaps and feel however they want about the characters.

Community Interviews

Unit 6

Part B

Q1. How is planning important in the insurance business, and if so why?

A1. Yes, planning is extremely important in the insurance business. You have to constantly know the prices and requirements of policies and auto quotes that are changing minute by minute. Modern technology, thankfully exists and is able to help us tremendously.

Q. What do you do in your business that helps you and your employees stay organized?

A. As you can see, we have many filing cabinets that are categorized by many different things such as ages, locations, names, and even dates that policies were opened and closed. It is very hard to stay organized in this business with literally hundreds of renewals and thousands of electronic quotes everyday. Thankfully we have computers in this day and age that can aid us in neatly organizing clientel and financial files.

Q. Is leadership an important role that you, as a manager are constantly dealing with?

A. Of course, in any business there is a need for quality leaders. In some businesses more than others. This business is fairly small, and we do not have that many employees, thankfully, so leadership hasn't been that big of a hassle.

Q4. How do you motivate your employees to do their best?

A4. When I first began to manage this business, I did not see the need to motivate my employees so I left it at that. I soon learned that I was wrong. Employees like to feel good about themselves and they like to feel that they are needed. Employees can do this by implementing bonuses, raises, or benefits for their employees.

Q5. Do you deal with controlling the finances of your business?

A5. Surprisingly, No I don't directly deal with this aspect of managing my business. We are an insurance broker, so we have very large mother companies that deal with controlling and dealing with most of our finances.

Q6. How do you deal with evaluating your employees?

A6. Evaluating are employees, thankfully, hasn't been a problem with our employees. Each individual field of insurance is evaluated individually. There are auto quotes, residential quotes, environmental quotes, reception, renewals, confirmation, and many more areas that we have to evaluate so it is a hard question to answer.

This particular business manager feels that there is no "ideal employee". Every single employee has their individual strengths and weaknesses. All of his employees are trustworthy and loyal, considerate and caring and he feels that those are some "ideal" characteristics that his employees have.

From this interview, I learned many different things that will most deffinately change my perception about what management exactly is. I learned that there are many, many different roles of a manager than what were listed in the textbook. I also learned that modern technology and organizational skills definitely help a business stay organized and operate more efficiently.

Part A

After interviewing my mother, Kelly Chanady, I gained a lot of insight into the role of human resources in a company. I actually learned how the roles of a manager actually influence and effect employees. Employees prefer a manager who is fair to everyone and treats every employee kindly and with respect and that when employees feel comftroable in their working environment that they are more likely to produce a larger amount and better quality of work.

An insurance analysts job contains many different aspects. An insurance analyst that works in a brokerage office must constantly monitor stock quotes, auto and residential statistics, handle client quoting and renewal procedures and categorize and file certain documents.

On November 6th I went to the Stone Pony in New York to see another of my favorite bands, NOFX. NOFX is a punk-ska band. Punk meaning fast paced drumbeats and quick singing and ska meaning a song played with trumpets. The band members are Fat Mike (vocals, bass), El Hefe (guitar, trumpet, vocals), Eric Melvin (guitar, vocals), and Erik Sandin (drums). The one thing I found out there was that El Hefe sings a lot. I thought he only sings in a few songs but when I heard them play, I noticed that he sang about half of the songs.

NOFX music has considerable groove for a punk band and is sparked by the two lead guitarists, Eric Melvin and El Hefe. Tight play between the bands four members, and short, fast, punchy songs, with a laid back approach would even have non-punk fans entertained.

Their songs talk about racism, politics, social problems, sex, drugs, lesbians, bums, alcohol, animal freedom... and many other strange subjects. In their music you will find punk, of course, but also rock, hardcore, ska, even reggae and jazz. If you ask me they are a just a punk-ska band. Their songs are interesting and different from one another. Each song has its own characteristics. The lyrics are very interesting, sometimes strange, and sometimes incomprehensible. You basically just have to understand them in your own way.

The club was packed, or more accurately, stuffed. After much anticipation the punk gods, NOFX hit the stage and the crowd surged with excitement even before they opened the set with one of my favorite songs, Reagan Sucks. The next song they played was Bob. They played songs from the album Flossing a Dead Horse - which is one massive trumpet solo presented by El Hefe. The next song they played was Eat the Meek with trumpet and lead vocals by El Hefe. The mosh pit was monstrous and seemed to gain in size as it rotated in circles and swallowed innocent bystanders into the craziness. People were being knocked over everywhere and smashed by the surging waves of dancers. People were body surfing and there seemed to be chaos going on everywhere.

Order essays on Biot and other topics

After that, the seventh song they played was Hobophobic (Scared of bums not just because they stink bad. Not just because theyre crackers. From drinking too much lysol. Let them be.) Then they played Six Pack Girls. They played three songs in three minutes as Fat Mike said. After that they played Linoleum (Metal meter in my hand, sporting a pocket full of change, thats me on the street, with a violin under my chin, playing with a grin, singing gibberish, thats me on the back of the bus, thats me in the cell, thats me inside your head.) Release the Hostages (So I drink cause it makes me Happier than being alone. My good friend Johnny Walker Keeps me warm) and Liza & Louise. The fifteenth song they played was Hot Dog in a Hallway (I always know where she sat, and when shes on me I get flat, some broken ribs a punctured lung, thats why I love her.)

They were really not only playing the songs but also entertaining the crowd. They had some cool talks with the crowd and with each other. Besides that they were jumping all over the stage while playing. I was really sorry I wasnt able to dance to Perfect Government because I really like that song but I was exhausted. After that it was El Hefes time to sing Kill All the White Man (No I dont like the white man up in me, He rape my people as he rape my country, everything I love and cherish, he try to take away. We will be rid of him, soon come the day.)

That was when I rested a bit then I had to go dancing to it. We were all dancing some sort of reggae and then when that fast part came up we were all over the place.

Well everything comes to an end and then they played the punk anthem, The Brews. That was the song I was waiting for. El Hefe sang it, of course. When the show finished El Hefe took those set lists and threw it into the crowd and I caught one of them. He even threw those half-empty beer cans and I only managed to slow down one cause he threw it too fast. After that Fat Mike stayed on the stage shaking hands with the people. I shook hands with him too.

Spermicides

Spermicides are used to prevent pregnancy. They were first invented by the ancient Egyptians. The Ebers Medical Guide was written by the Egyptians between 1550 and 1500 BC. It tells how they used a tampon sort of material and soaked it in an herbal mixture of acacia, dates, colocynth and honey. This mixture was supposed to prevent the sperm from fertilizing the egg. When this mixture fermented it produced lactic acid. Modern science shows that lactic acid is a spermicide. This is a chemical that kills sperm.

Modern spermicides come in many different forms. They all are inserted into the woman's vagina to prevent the sperm from fertilizing the egg. You can buy them at any drugstore or supermarket. They are easy to get and you do not need a doctor's prescription. The cost can be anywhere from $.50 to $1.50 for each application. They work by covering the sperm cell so it cannot function. It blocks they sperm from getting to the egg. The active ingredient is Nonoxynol-. This ingredient does give some protection against some STDs. It is not effective against HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. They can cause women to have urinary tract infections. To prevent this the female should always urinate after sex. This will help clear any bacteria from the urinary tract. Spermicides can help protect women against cancer of the cervix.

There are basically five types of spermicides. Suppositories, jellies, foams, creams, and film. They are similar in cost and how well they work. The most important thing to remember is that they must put in the vagina before you have sex. You need a new application for each time you have sex. Always follow the directions on the package. Spermicides can be irritating to the genital area. They should be used with along with a condom or diaphragm. They can be used on their own. If they are used correctly they are 5% effective in preventing pregnancy. Because they are not always used correctly, the chances of getting pregnant are greater and they may have an only 80% effective rate.

Suppositories are small and bullet shaped. They are individually wrapped. They should be unwrapped and inserted as close to the cervix as possible. They take ten to

thirty minutes to melt and become effective. Protection lasts for up to one hour after insertion.

Creams must be squeezed into an applicator. The applicator is inserted and emptied into the vagina. The cream must touch the cervix to be effective. Creams start to work as soon as they are inserted. They last for one hour when used alone. They last for six hours if used with a diaphragm.

Jellies come in tubes. They are inserted in the vagina with an applicator, just like the creams. This product must also reach the cervix to work and lasts for one hour. They begin to work as soon as they are inserted.

Foams come in a small container. The foam needs to be shaken for at least twenty shakes. The product is then put into an applicator and inserted into the vagina. This also must reach the cervix to work. It starts to work immediately. The protection lasts for one hour.

Film comes in a square sheet, about two inches by two inches. It is also called "vaginal contraceptive film". It has to be placed on or as close to the cervix as possible.

It will start to dissolve as soon as it comes in contact with the body. It takes fifteen minutes to melt and become effective. It is hard to insert and can stick to the fingers when you are trying to insert it. It lasts for one hour.

Gender identity

If you order your custom term paper from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on gender identity. What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. Our staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in gender identity, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your gender identity paper at affordable prices!

What is someone's identity? Is it the way they look, the way they dress, or it could be many things all put together, or is it none of the above? To me someone's identity is a part of his or her being. Nobody will ever hold it, touch it, or even see it, but it is there. Everybody has one, it guilds your decision-making, your thoughts, ideas, and dreams. You may think something is terrible while someone else does not even care and yet another person may laugh, why? The answer is simple; everyone has his own identity and personality.

Well everyone has his own identity and personality. Everyone feels, acts, thinks, and dreams differently. People may have some of these things in common with one another, but they will not be totally the same, it is like a fingerprint, we're unique.

It comes from the individuals ability to think, reason and form an opinion.

Nobody has the same mind, or the same or the same conscious, so how could anyone have the same identity as another. A person's identity is developed over many years from the time they become aware of their surroundings, to the time they decide if they are going to college, and even as they grow old there identity will change with them. As people's dreams are dreamed and goals are accomplished their identities will change with the individual.

Gender is a major cause for a person's identity. A person might act a certain way because of the gender that is given to them.

Nature and identity might make a woman act the way that she does.

Men and women are different because of society has set them up with. It is observed for men to be strong and women to be weak.

However with all these factors related to forming an identity the most important and most influential is the person themselves. We see people every day, some whom we want to be like and some we hope we never turn out like. With all the other outside factors to guide and help or push and hamper, the individual has the last say. You are the only one who says what you want to be like over the course of your life. Nobody will ever get inside your mind and do the thinking for you. Nobody can influence you, you may feel as if you are being forced to do something but you do not have to do anything. You make the final decision. However you act, think, and speak is totally up to you.

People grow up all coming from all different kinds of places, backgrounds and families. They will all have different identities. Gender affects the decisions made by people. Their identity and the ‘nature' of the person make them act the way they do.

Nobody is the same and nobody will ever be. All the outside influences will have an effect on their identities but the individual has the last word on it. Nobody is the same because each person will form his own identity to what ever they want to be like.

If behaving in the accepted manner of the alternate sex is not illegal than why shouldnt someone have the option to try it? They dont feel that they have anything to be ashamed of so it does not bother them to hear obscene gender stereotypes such as dike, or queer. Sometimes men are feminine but are not gay at all. Different things make different people happy. Gender is more than just sex, according to our text. Gender shouldnt determine how one may dress, speak, or their personal preferences, and comfort in your community that you want to live in. If one has a healthy respect then they become a well-adjusted healthy individual. I think that in order to be content in life and be a well-adjusted human, your gender identity needs to be satisfied.

Please note that this sample paper on gender identity is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on gender identity, we are here to assist you. Your cheap custom college paper on gender identity will be written from scratch, so you do not have to worry about its originality. Order your authentic assignment and you will be amazed at how easy it is to complete a quality custom paper within the shortest time possible!

The Building of Highway 2000 should not be suspended until conditions in Jamaica are more favourable.

Have you ever traveled on the Old Habour Bypass? Remember that long stretch of smooth, pothole less paved road that seem unending? Now picture a highway of these same components, while traveling from Kingston to Montego Bay in less than three hours. The building of Highway 000 should not be suspended until conditions in Jamaica are more favourable.

Firstly, if the project were suspended there would be no means of employment, thus crime rate will increase. Unemployed persons would then have to find other means of employment, which 80 percent of the time might not be legal. We would have illegal vending along the highway, which is quite prevalent in Jamaica. We would also have illegal taxi operators plying the routes of major towns that are linked by the highway. It is agreed that the Crime rate has been increasing due to the current unemployment status; suspension of the highway will not make any difference. Since the start of the year, 17 persons have died because of criminal acts being committed against them. Nevertheless, the building of Highway 000 would create employment opportunities for persons who wish to make an honest living rather than resort to criminal behavior.

Secondly, the revenue from the toll will help in the development of other road works in the country. The government is not allocating enough finances to develop roads in some rural parishes. But with a highway tolling system we could use the funds for just that. The government approved 1. billion dollars in the last budget for road rehabilitation projects, yet still it is not enough. Persons have to walk to their destinations because taxis refuse to travel the bad roads. Indeed, persons will be reluctant to travel the highway because they cannot afford to pay the toll. Already the estimates of the toll are being announced and persons give negative reactions to these prices. However, people will support the cause of paying the toll when they start seeing results later in its implementation.

Thirdly, persons would experience the ease of traveling long distances in a shorter time. Currently given the present road conditions, it would take the average driver four hours to travel from Kingston to Montego Bay. If there were an accident in a particular parish and the injured had to be transported to another parish for treatment, because of the distance traveled that person would sercom to their injury. Due to the long tedious drive, groups on excursions spend most of their time on the road getting to the venue than actually having the chance to enjoy themselves. Although it is agreed that a highway will attract speeding and frequent accidents; as a result traffic build up for hours. In the first month of opening Old Habour Bypass over 40 accidents were reported. But on the contrary, whether it be emergency or enjoyment we appreciate the ease of traveling long distances in a shorter time.

As we can see many benefits will spur from the building of Highway 000. Some of these benefits include keeping unemployment status at a low, development of other roads through the tolling system and persons reaching their destinations comfortably and on time. Suspension of Highway 000 would just be a setback for our country, Jamaica land we love.

Please note that this sample paper on The Building of Highway 2000 should not be suspended until conditions in Jamaica are more favourable. is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Revenge and Wit

The first few scenes in act four seem to move by very quickly. Basically Cladius wants to get Hamlet the heck out of Denmark for fear that he will be the next victim on Hamlet's death list. He sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern England. Theses a re two crapy friend seeing as they have totally turned against Hamlet and become, "sponges" benefiting from their friendship with him by soaking up " the king's countenance, his rewards, his authorities" (1, 15-16). Both men are very pathetic during this scene with their inability to understand Hamlets wit. They take Hamlet the see the King and Hamlet continues with his whole "madness" act, but with Cladius he is playing a very dangerous game. Unlike Hamlet's two friends, Cladius IS a match for Hamlet's wit, and the king grows very angry and impatient with Hamlet's riddles.

Cladius can't get a straight answer out of Hamlet and you can tell is finding it very hard to maintain his composure in front of the court. Hamlet is loved by the people and Cladius seems to keep that in mind when speaking to Hamlet. Hamlet seems to converse easily with people of every social group, as demonstrated by his conversation with everyone he encounters outside the court soldiers and players. Ophelia's recollection of the Hamlet she knew- "The observ'd of all observers"- tell me how the court as well as the people followed his every move (Act Scene 1).

In scene 4 Fortinbras is reintroduced back into the story as making his way through Denmark on his way to Poland. I think that this scene show Hamlet's admiration of Fortinbra's determination. I think that this scene gives Hamlet the confidence he needs to perform his task. I mean if Fortunibra can lead an army into battle and death, Hamlet can revenge his father's murder and his mother's ruin.

There was a lot going on in scene 5, Laertes has returned to Denmark for his father funeral and is enraged with revenge towards Cladius. Cladius is the cause of his fathers death, his sister has gone mad, and the secretive burial of his father! Polonius was the chief minister to the king. Usually, a man of his rank would be given an elaborate funeral. Laertes asks why his father was given "no noble right nor formal ostentation" (14). Cladius seems to a lot calmer during this threat, maybe due to that fact that he feel on guilt towards this murder seeing as it wasn't his doing, or maybe because he knows he can easily manipulate Laertes. Cladius pulls Laertes into his web by acting like a fatherly figure towards him. He knows that Hamlet has escaped the grasp of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and is headed back to Denmark to kill him. Cladius is really getting anxious; he has already hired Swiss mercenaries to act as his body guards because he can no longer trust his own army but just to be safe he now turns Laertes against Hamlet. He uses several skillful devices to accomplish this, including declarations of friendship and common enmity, candor about his most intimate affairs, and, of course, flattery.

Laertes rises quickly to the bait. He tells Cladius that he has come into possession of some very lethal poison which Cladius will offer to Hamlet to ensure that Laertes wins the duel. This scheme proves how evil Cladius really is. IN the last part of this scene Gertrude interrupts their talk and informs them that Ophelia has drowned. Hearing this new you kind of wonder if Laertes's grief is too much to bear and if he will be stable enough to perform the plan.

As war in the Middle East grows stronger, we, as United States citizens, become increasingly aware of the threat of a terrorist attack. As we imagine all of the horrible scenarios that could possibly occur, the one that stands out in our mind is the threat of smallpox.

You may be asking yourself, "Smallpox? I thought it had been eradicated forever." As the media increases its coverage of the war, the question of the smallpox virus being resurrected increases as well. This intense coverage has brought about an impossible decision for the government to make should smallpox vaccination be made mandatory? The threat of a bio- terrorist attack is real. This is why during this crucial time, being vaccinated for all possible viruses, is truly important.

As Americans, we had belief that all smallpox stores had been destroyed. However, we were wrong. There are two known stocks of smallpox left in the world one in the United States and the other in Russia. Government officials now believe that Iraq, North Korea, and possibly others, may be working on weaponizing smallpox. This is only one of many reasons why it is important that an individual be vaccinated.

With the possibility that our enemies are planning bio-terrorist attacks, increased awareness of the smallpox virus heightens. Ironically, the real danger lies on our own soil. People today have almost no experience with the virus, thus, have no immunity to it. "We are nearly as virgin a population as the Native Americans who were wiped out by the various deadly pathogens brought over by Europeans" (Krauthammer).

The presidential administration has recently announced that mandatory smallpox vaccination has been made for soldiers in target areas, vaccination is voluntary for medical workers, and available, but not needed for everyone else. If the threat of smallpox becomes worse, then we look forward to the government making the vaccination mandatory for all citizens.

Having the state tell you what you must do, seems to violate our right as Americans. It should be my decision, as an individual, to decide whether or not I want to be vaccinated. Every year parents are left with no choice but to risk the lives of their own children when they must be immunized before entering school. Should the right to protect ourselves, as well as our family, be compromised by the states decision?

Nevertheless, the case for mandatory vaccination is even greater. During this time of war, the threat is against the nation, not only individuals. We, as citizens, should look at this as a time to protect society. It is a time to do out part against terrorism.

Most believe that the government is violating the freedom of individuals. However, the government is only looking out for the best interest of the nation. Would you be willing to risk contracting the disease and spreading it to an entire population? No one wants to risk the lives of others, let alone, be at fault for destroying a nation.

Nevertheless, if the government does not make vaccinations mandatory, we, as citizens, should. Every individual should make their own decision to be vaccinated, if the survival of the country is at stake. This decision not only succumbs to the interest of the government, but also the interest of individuals.

Please note that this sample paper on Vaccination: Risking Lives or Saving the Nation? is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Vaccination: Risking Lives or Saving the Nation?, we are here to assist you. When I was six years old, I wanted to be a dancer. I rented movies about dancing, watched ballets on television, and liked to dance around my room to classical music, pretending I was the star of a beautiful ballet. I had always been too young to join a real dance class. Of course there were those "Mommy and me" classes for babies, and then the "creative dance" classes that consisted of toddlers spinning and hopping around a dance floor, following no set chorography. But, now, being six, I could join a real dance class, where the beginnings of a true ballerina were born.

"I'm going to be a dancer," I said confidently to my mother in the kitchen, as she made dinner and I practiced plies.

"I know, I know, dear," She replied, having heard this from me many times before.

The next day was a Saturday. My mother came into the living room at around eleven ‘o clock that morning. I was watching weekend cartoons when she came in.

"Get dressed, we are goin' to register you for ballet," she said, grinning.

I flew from my seat on the couch to my bedroom. I dressed myself in a flower- print, summer dress and brushed my teeth.

When we arrived at the dance studio, I was shaking with anxiety and I was glowing with excitement. My mother opened the glass door to the studio and I stepped inside. While my mom walked over to the receptionist, I stood, frozen, staring at the inside of the building in awe. The walls were paneled in honey-colored wood, and the floors I stood on were a short, rough, black, carpet. To the right of me was a big, glass window. I walked over to it, stood on my tippy-toes, and peeked inside to discover a dance class in session. I stood there watching the ballerinas spin across the slick, hard-wood floor, one-by-one. I watched their delicate feet daintily brush the floor, before flying swiftly into the air, as they leaped, their light, sheer skirts flowed with their movements, until they again returned lightly to the floor, completing their jetes. I longed to be in that room with them as I listened to the muffled sound of their classical music. All the while, I was unaware that my mother was registering me for class, I remembered, and turned around. I returned to her side, only to hear "…And what will she be needing?"

The receptionist was a large lady, with a kind smile and sweet voice, "It's all on the blue paper, Miss."

"Thank you," said my mom, as she pivoted towards the door, "See you Wednesday then." My mom said to the receptionist, as the put her back against the glass door, slowly opening it.

The receptionist returned her comment with a smile and a nod.

"Did you sign me up?" I asked restlessly.

"Yes, your first class is Wednesday, and we have to buy to a few things," she replied.

Next, we drove to a dance store. I found a little powder blue leotard and soft, pink ballet shoes. I was so excited. When I came home, I put on my dance wear and danced around my room. I continued doing this until Wednesday.

I rushed to my mother's car after school that day. We went home and still having two hours before my lesson started, I began getting ready. I put on my blue leotard, along with my white tights, and my ballet shoes. Then, my mom put my hair up in a tight bun and I waited for the time to come. Finally, it did.

When I arrived at class I was so thrilled and energized. I loved my first class. However, my attitude soon changed. I felt like the class was so childish compared to

Specific goal

Introduction

A. "It is only the ignorant who despise education." That is a famous quote from Publius Syrus according to www.bartleby.com.

B. We all agree that a college education is important…….

C. After doing my research through the U.S. Dept of Labor and the U.S. Dept. of Education I have compiled some information I will share with you today that shows that Indeed Education does pay.

There are a number of reasons each and every one of us want to get a college education.

A. One of the most compelling reasons is the expectation of future economic success

Right now you might think you do not have enough time to go to school with all your other responsibility's you need to pay the bills well try writng down a schedule to help you manage time because it will be worth it in a couple of years you will make about apx 7k more a year then a person who has failed to get their associates degree. That's about 145 dollars a week more. Getting into our specific fields as opposed to just educations attainment.

1. While a High school graduate may make a Median annual earnings of $8, 800.

a. A median is basically an average income technically defined as the

boundry between the highest paid 50% and the lowest paid 50% of workers in that occupation.

. A Computer graphics Median annual earnings would be $48,780.

. A diagnostic medical sonographer Median annual earnings is $44,80.

4. Radiologic tech Median annual earnings is $6,000

5. Para legal Median annual earnings is $5, 60

Salaries depend partly on education training, experience type and size of employer. so even though I told you about the Median earnings there is nothing stopping you from making a lot more than the Median amount. .

Even though right now you might have to give up some time with your family, and make some sacrifices financially in the long run it will pay off for you.

Students who go on to get a bachelors degree will make approximately $11, 000 more annually than those who have obtained an associate degree.

Go on to get your masters degree and you will earn approximately $0, 000 more annually then your associate's degree.

Take small steps with your education. We are starting off with an associates but nothing is stopping us from pursuing even a higher education.

When it comes to problems such as financial aid you can always go to the US dept of education web site at www…..sss……gov and look up scholarship and loan information or seek help from your college's financial aid department. Remember Education cost money, but then so does ignorance.(quote from Sir Claus Moser obtained from Bartletts quotations)

If you have time management issues try writing out a schedule and try not to cram all your studying into a few hours. Make sure to take study breaks about once an hour.

If you got some bad grades from a test from hell turn the fear of academic failure and its consequences into a positive motivator to go the extra mile.

Conclusion

We now know higher education level is associated with an increase in earnings.

I interviewed our Dean who is currently working on his phd about college education, and he advised me it is very easy to be content and he encourages all of us to go after our dreams. He told me that one of his favorite quotes is from John Adams our nd Us president that says "Education is not how to make a living its how to live."

An Invention that Changed the World

The modern world is surrounded by thousands of electronic devices, many of which deserve a place on a list of significant inventions. The light bulb, however, has changed the world by illuminating the night and making it easier to perform a wide range of activities. People no longer have to restrict their work habits to the period from dawn to dusk. As a result of Thomas Edison's tireless efforts in 187, the world can easily function 4 hours a day. The idea for electric lighting occurred well before Edison's time, however.

In 180, Sir Humphrey Davy discovered that by passing an electric current through strips of metal, he could make them hot enough to glow brightly for a few seconds before burning up. However, this device, known as an arc lamp, was impractical for most uses. The light was simply too bright to be used in residences and most businesses. The lamp also required a tremendous source of power to operate. As time went on, electric generators were invented that could supply the arc lamp with power. Soon, streets and other outdoor public areas were filled with these lamps. However, there was still no suitable light invented for indoor use. Thomas Edison dedicated many years to find a solution to this problem.

The primary hurdle for Edison was creating a long-lasting and high-temperature filament. Edison and his associates tested over 1600 materials including horsehair, coconut fibers, fishing line, and even spider webs to find the best filament. Finally, Edison thought of using carbonized thread as the material. Edison's team inserted the thread into a glass bulb, forced out the air with a vacuum pump, and sealed the glass. When connected to an electric current, the bulb glowed steadily for more than 1 hours. Within a few weeks, Edison improved his bulb allowing it to glow many hours longer.

Light bulb improvements are still being made today. Fluorescent bulbs now operate using only one fourth as much energy as the standard incandescent bulb. These lights also give off 0% less heat and can last up to 1,000 hours. In addition, fluorescent bulbs are offered in a large array of styles and colors. Another new product is the halogen bulb. This bulb produces a much brighter light than a fluorescent or incandescent bulb, though it is more expensive. The improvements of the light bulb are only a small part of its value.

The light bulb is historically significant in many ways. This invention created a society where work and other activities could be performed without the aid of sunlight. Illuminated street signs were utilized to help travelers find their route. Sporting events and other activities could be held in the cooler temperatures of the evening hours. People were also given the sense of security and comfort often associated with light. However, the light bulb's historical significance is mainly due to the impact it had on the 0th century. The light bulb was a catalyst to many other discoveries. Through the use of light bulbs, viewing motion pictures on a large screen became possible. A few years later, the creation of the television replaced radios as the primary source of information. Even laser technology, which is used in industrial processing and surgical procedures, stems from the light bulb. Obviously, the light bulb has more significance than just allowing us to see in the dark. This invention, and the technologies derived from it, has helped develop the global economy and create a society that can operate 4 hours a day.

There are so many people in the world today, which are very different. I am not

talking about the people who are mentally and physically challenged. I am talking about

the people who are the same gender and want to be married with children. Our society

has changed over time, that is a given. How can it change so drastically? Same gender

marriages with children are alarming because children will think that is ok to do it. I will

cover what might go through the child's mind by the following being picked on at

school, what mental thoughts he or she might have, and finally not have that mother or father figure.

There are problems in every child as far as being some kind of social figure at

school. Every child of some sort wants to be that child who sticks out in a good way at

school. Sometimes there are children who stick out in a bad way. They could have

something wrong with them, etc. Then you have those whose parents are different, then it

affects the whole family.(In a formal interview with Jennifer Peluso.) I asked her what her

thoughts of gay couples having children were. She said, " The child would be picked on

more than a normal child would."

I have talked about some social problems at school. I will now talk about some mental thoughts or feelings that the child may have.

What do you think is going on in that poor child's mind? According to Charlotte

J. Patterson of University of Virgina said, " A child who is brought up from abnormal

relationships ( Gay Marriages) will suffer some kind of self- identity disorder." See, the

child will not know if he or she should be loving or have intimate relationships with the

opposite sex. The child will think or maybe more open to be with someone who is gay. In

all reality it is wrong from the bible. Diversity between gays and normal people is that much more.

I have covered what could go through the child's mind. Now I will talk about the mother and father figure.

Who is the mother and who is the father one might ask? It would be really hard

for a child to figure that one out. The child grow up thinking that he or she has only two

mothers or two fathers. When having a child you need that actual mother and father

figure there at all times. The child would not have that at all. How would you explain that

one to the class?(According to New Jersey Court Decision on Gay Parents on Adopting

Children.)"The child is more likely to have problems with the following Drug Abuse,

Depression, Poor Discipline, and confused sexual identity."

I have covered some important factors like being picked on at school, mental

issues of the child, and the mother, father figure. This is a big problem in our society

today and it is not beneficial to the child. The child will have more problems than a

normal child would. In return, the child needs to have a normal life.

The term "Puritanism" denotes not only the religious sect of Congregationalists from "Old England" who wished to "purify" the Anglican Church of its supposed depravity, but also their austerity and strictness in religious conduct. So involved was this severity in social order that the Puritan community of New England had based much of its civil governance upon its very in essence, Calvinistic Protestant religious beliefs and endeavors at religious reformation. In the mean time, they stressed not a clear cut from the England Catholic Church, but rather to serve as a model of Christian society for the rest of the Christian world.

The new "Utopia", in effect, was established in the mindset as if to find a New Jerusalem. Thus, much of the primary documents written, pertinent to the order of the settlements, stressed both "God's word" and adherence to a unifying political body, especially that of the famous quotation in A Modell of Christian Charity written by John Winthrop aboard the Arbella to America "For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us." The oration speaks as if that they are being watched by the rest of the Christian world, such that they must live up truthfully to God's words, in order for the community to become a successful model of Christian society. It is evident here, that even before actual Puritan settlement took place that these religious virtues of Puritanism were already deeply planted within the community. On the other hand the Mayflower Compact written in 160, a pact of liberal governance in the new colonies proposed the submission to the will of the majority and "combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick". Without surprise, such a document was signed by forty-one male adults "solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God". Clearly established is a document that stressed the adherence to political civility and the will "be thought most meet and convenient for the General good of the Colony".

Both primary documents of the epoch of early Puritan settlement, mentions themselves as covenants between community and God. Thus they deeply reflect Puritanic ideology of the colonial era of America. In that respect, the early Puritan settlers were indulged both in the need for social order and establish themselves as a foundation for "true Christianity".
