In War of the Worlds, it deals with the societies going into a panic in the different countries. So they both have somewhat of a political reference. What is noticed the most is that the main characters in each of the stories are running from their problems. Wallace kept trying to avoid the green door while Pierson had to keep hiding from the Martians. These being the only noticeable similarities, I feel there are much more differences between the two.
