Introduction
I think that Reginald Rose included all the details that she did include in her play, Twelve Angry Men, because she was trying to describe to her readers two things. She was trying to describe the way people can fight over nothing much when they are really judging the fate of another human life. I also think the author (Reginald Rose) was trying to describe to her readers how United States courts put their decisions (which at times determine the fate of an human life) in the wrong hands.
She was trying to show us how people can quarrel over nothing much when they are really deciding the fate of another human life. An example to prove my point is that a few jurors argued about the taxes they are being charged for and not even getting good enough air conditioning. Is that at all relevant to the case? No! Another example is one of the jurors would just talk about the baseball tickets in his pocket and at one point argued with another juror about the priority he was giving to the baseball tickets rather to the game.
I think the author was trying to show her readers the way United States courts put their decisions in the wrong hands a proof to this is that as was seen in the story the jurors were people who are supposed to decide the fate of ones life and they cannot even decide whether to keep the window opened or closed! Also we can see in the story that these people were not legible to be jurors. They were not legible because when you must decide the fate of ones life the decision must not be put in the hands of easily tempered personalities. In this story many of the jurors had high tempers. The jurors in this story also seemed not to be concerned with the case but rather trying to compete with one another. We can see this from the story because each juror wanted to get on top of the other i.e. they all tried to get the last words.
All in all I think this story was written to prove a point the point is to my opinion what I listed above.
